This handcrafted Katakuchi by ceramic artist Beatrice Kelerienė was fired in the Dūkštos Anagama wood kiln, where ash and flame shaped its soft color transitions and natural textures. The bowl features a rounded, gently flared form with a precise pouring spout, making it ideal for Matcha preparation, tea service, or use in the kitchen.
During the five-day anagama firing, melting ash created a striking gradient from warm earthy browns to pale, creamy ash-white. Subtle speckling and textural variations add depth and character, giving the vessel a calm yet dynamic presence. The interior glows with warm ochre tones, adding visual richness and a welcoming feel.
Functional, elegant, and expressive, this Katakuchi is a beautiful example of authentic wood-fired craftsmanship.
