This small anagama-fired vase by ceramic artist Beatričė Kelerienė captures the essence of wood-firing: raw, unpredictable, and beautifully organic. Its rounded form and gently tapered neck give it a timeless, archaeological presence — as if unearthed from a place where earth and fire have shaped objects for centuries.
During the prolonged anagama firing, drifting ash settled unevenly across the vase, creating natural gradients of soft grey, deep charcoal, and warm ember-red. These tones wrap around the form in fluid, flame-drawn patterns, telling the story of where the heat was most intense and where ash melted into subtle, glassy highlights. No glaze was applied; every mark is a direct result of the kiln’s atmosphere.
Compact yet full of character, this vase stands beautifully on its own or paired with a single dry stem, offering a quiet moment of wabi-sabi simplicity.
