This handmade small vase by ceramic artist Beatričė Kelerienė was fired in a Dūkštos Anagama wood-fired kiln, where flame, ash, and time shaped its quietly dramatic surface. The vase features a rounded, compact form with a narrow, slightly raised neck - a simple, timeless silhouette that lets the natural kiln effects speak for themselves.
During the five - day anagama firing, wood ash settled unevenly across the clay, creating soft gradients of charcoal grey, warm earth tones, and smoky patches that appear almost like shadows painted by fire. The subtle pitting and texture on the surface are natural results of the harsh, oxygen-fluctuating environment inside the kiln, giving the piece an ancient, elemental character.
Small yet full of presence, this vase is perfect for a single stem, minimalist ikebana, or as a sculptural object in its own right.
