“Corals” is a striking sculptural work forged in the atmospheric intensity of an Anagama wood kiln. Rising vertically like an otherworldly reef, the piece unites organic form with elemental surface effects. Elongated, root-like columns anchor the structure, their deep charcoal sheen shaped by wood ash, ember flow, and reduction.
Emerging from these forms is a constellation of spherical nodes - some luminous and crackled like marine fossils, others glossy and dark as obsidian. Their clustered arrangement evokes underwater growth patterns, while the palette and texture remain tied to earth and flame. Each shift between matte and glossy surfaces creates a dynamic visual rhythm.
Resonating with the expressive, process-driven approach seen in the work of contemporary ceramic artist Beatričė Kelerienė, this sculpture stands as a testament to the unpredictable beauty of Anagama firing. Every sphere, ridge, and subtle transition captures a moment of transformation inside the kiln.
This piece also offers the possibility to enhance both interior and outdoor spaces.
Its durable construction and sculptural presence allow it to integrate harmoniously into modern interiors, gardens, terraces, or courtyard areas—becoming a bold focal point that adds depth, character, and a sense of natural artistry to any environment.Features
